Postpartum Essentials

Postpartum / recovery is so different for everyone. Both of my deliveries were so different but here are a few items that were lifesavers for those first couple weeks when I left the hospital. I had a harder recovery with B (3rd degree tear) and essential zero recovery with R (no tearing!!) so I had two completely different recoveries but these products helped with both! I didn’t have a c-section so the products needed for recovery might be different but these were total lifesavers for me for both deliveries.

The Deets

  1. Womens diapers were a game changer for me. I know a lot of my friends loved the mesh underwear they give you at the hospital but they were super uncomfortable for me with those giant pads they give you. These were so much more comfy and you don’t need to add an extra pad since the pad is in the underwear. Just add in the ice packs and witch hazel pads and you’re good to go!

  2. Witch Hazel Pads are a must! The hospital will give you these so make sure you take them home with you but if you need extra they have the same ones on Amazon!

  3. Tucks Cooling Pads are really good for special circumstances. TMI but I totally needed these after my labor with B. I was super uncomfortable and these were great! I didn’t need them after R thankfully, so I would have this saved in your Amazon cart just in case you need them last minute.

  4. I didn’t have a c-section so things might be different but these underwear were comfy postpartum to suck everything in and to use pads once your bleeding has calmed down.

  5. I loved having a robe in the hospital and when I came home. I basically lived in it and it wasn’t too hot (hormones made me sweat the day after delivery) and it was super cozy to wrap R in while doing skin-to-skin.

  6. Claraderm - GAME CHANGER! I had a pretty bad tear with B so I researched a tonnnn of sprays to use post delivery that were non-toxic and effective. I read a lot about this Young Living cooling spray that you can use before delivery to prep your skin and obvi for after. THIS STUFF WAS EVERYTHING! It’s a total must in my opinion!
